I ran with that idea and cast the other characters.
Here is the Boy Witch as The Devil.
This might turn into a weekly project. XD
The sexy witch and the newly-wigged bald witch began a social dance in the ballroom, joined by Lady Macbeth, Duncan, and many others.
I stood next to Catherine Campbell, who served drinks to the company. All the party members were having a jolly time, except Lady McDuff who fumed at intimacy between her husband and the sexy witch. Amidst the dancing, the bald witch waltzed up to me, tugged my skirt, and smiled.
Did she recognize the McKittrick pattern on them?! It might be wistful thinking, but I believed so.
Lady McDuff strolled by and drowned her ire with drinks from Catherine. All of a sudden, she fainted! At that moment, I did the unthinkable: I leaped back.
My apologies Lady McDuff! I didn’t know. I was startled when you fell. Guess I should’ve read more blogs to prepare…Thankfully, the nice gentleman beside me caught you in time.
As the music dimmed and the floor cleared, the bald witch stood center stage and became true to her name. Slowly, she peeled the wig off her head, leaving audiences aghast.
I tailed her, and witnessed many unholy communions between her, the boy witch and the sexy witch.
At once, all the other guests and I sprinted towards a dark room, harking Hecate’s call. The three witches burst in, screaming, while Hecate lounged at a wiry table, playing half conductor half puppet master.
The music and the screams intensified.
The witches jumped on tables and writhed wildly.
The beat dropped.
The strobe lights ignited.
What. Just. Happened.
Last but not least…
A glimpse of a speeding man sent me dashing after him, only to catch dust.
Lost among the shadows, I eventually encountered Malcom, Banquo, and Macduff processing with the dead Ducan. It was a somber moment when I bore sole witness to his funeral.
The trio later reconvened at the speakeasy.
Beneath shady lighting, they dealt out cards and responsibilities.
After a few rounds of games and alcohol, they hammered the nail into Macbeth’s coffin.
Right after Malcom and Macduff had slipped away, Macbeth stormed in, and lunged after Banquo.
The two entwined in a brawl.
This fight was not a delicate dance.
It was savage and brutal!
After being tossed all over the speakeasy, Macbeth finally corned the fallen Banquo behind bar, and struck repeatedly with bone-breaking ferocity.
Finally, a silence came over the room.
The bloodied Macbeth staggered away as the speakeasy bartender rested a brick on the pool table.
Banquo was no more.
Just as I was gathering my wits, a guest next to me whispered:
“I read your blog.”
More To Come…
Last Saturday, I boogied till midnight at The Donkey Show.
It was tons of fun!
The Donkey Show is a retelling of Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream set in a 70’s disco club. The story unravels around you as you jiggy on the dance floor. It’s a definite recommendation for any adventurer.
Excitement was rising – countdown was gettin’ low.
According to my sources, Club Oberon was the place to go.
‘Cause that night for the first time, just about half-past ten,
for the first time in history, it was raining glittery men!
At the sound of the Weather Girls’ music, I joined the enthusiastic crowd on the dancing floor, groovin’ around four go-go boys on pedestals.
Club owner, Oberon, greeted us from the DJ booth and introduced his beautiful disco queen, Tytania.
Amidst the dancing, unrequited love was afoot.
Mia was in love with Sanders who was in love with Helene who was in love with Dimitri.
Trouble also climaxed between Oberon and Tytania.
“Please don’t talk about love tonight,” stormed Tytania. Oberon’s sweet talkin’ couldn’t make it right. Love and lies just brought her down, when Oberon got women all over town.
“You can love them all and when you’re through, maybe that’ll make, huh, a man out of you.”
Tytania went to where the people danced. She wanted some action … She wanted to live!
She stepped onto the bar counter and stripped a guest of his shirt.
Oberon went into a jealous fury!
He and Puck concocted a plan for revenge. While Tytania was resting, Oberon fed her some questionable substances.
When Tytania woke, she spotted a hilarious donkey, and felt the effects of the drug.
The night was young and full of possibilities. Well, she let herself be free.
Her love for the donkey, oh how she’d been sayin’. That night was made for her and it.
She wanted the donkey to ring her be-e-ell, ring her bell.
Meanwhile, Dimitri and Sanders, returning from a trippy room, both felt a miracle when they saw Mia.
The two men were now chasing Mia, while Helen struggled on the sidelines.
Finally, Puck ended the mad pursuit, through the use of more questionable substances.
Two couples emerged from the chaos, earning a large round of applause.
Suddenly, the music dropped.
“Are you ready for some adult entertainment?”
Oberon announced as he led the donkey to the front of the disco room.
The go-go boys carried out Tytania.
What happened next? Well, you’ll just have to see the show for yourself.
*End of Spoilers*
I really enjoyed the Donkey Show.
I loved the name Club Oberon. The double reference to the name of the theater and the king of the faeries was too perfect.
My fondest memory of the night was when I arrived at the club. I was greeted by two hilarious gentleman flirting with all the ladies. One of them took my hand, gave me a wink, and complimented on my smile, to which I turned turned bright red.
It was an awesome night.
Sleep No More is the best show ever! It’s immersive entertainment based on Shakespeare’s Macbeth. You start off checking in at the McKittrick Hotel, and then explore five floors of gorgeous film noir setting.
You meet stunning characters, and watch how their actions intertwine.
I saw Sleep No More in January and raved it to everyone. It was unbelievably awesome!
One of my friends was intrigued and went to go see it yesterday. We compared stories today.
I’d missed so much! For me, I arrived late to the show and had to leave early, so I rushed. I only caught glimpses of crucial scenes!
I’m definitely seeing this again!
No spoilers in this post, but I’ll put up a summary of my and my friend’s experience after the show’s run is over.
Right now, I’m super inspired by Sleep No More. My next few projects will be heavy on this theme.
