We had some amazing food throughout the trip.
Masatia got us the best pineapples and mangos!
I got to try my first fresh coconut.
I also tried my first sugar apple! I never knew they existed, but we found street vendors full of them.
Since we spent most of the trip at Tiwi Beach, we were only able to take a quick stroll of Mombasa. Even at night, the architecture was beautiful.
And now we’re back in Kisumu!
During the train ride from Nairobi to Mombasa, we went through Tsavo where we saw a herd of elephants by a watering hole.
At Mombasa stations, we took another ride to Tiwi Beach.
At Tiwi Beach, there was the largest praying mantis I’ve ever seen.
There were also lots of vervet monkeys stealing coconuts from the cooks.
At night, hundreds of tiny crabs scurried on the sand.
The animal sightings continue!
We went on a team outing this past weekend. It was a grueling 6 hour ride from Kisumu to Nairobi and then another 6 hour train ride from Nairobi to Mombasa.
But it was a lot of fun!
I got to experience my first matatu ride.
Saw some chill baboons.
Also saw a zebra casually hanging out by the highway.
I’m really jazzed that all these animals are just hanging out. It’s super neat!
There are soooo many mosquitoes in Kenya.
I might need a transfusion.
Kisumu is kind of magical.
Every morning I wake up to the sun beaming down on a garden full of chirping birds.
I also catch beautiful sunsets over Lake Victoria.
It’s a very charming place.
Took my first boda ride the other day. Definitely felt my life flash before me.
An exciting/terrifying way to start my Kenyan adventure.
