I’ve played my last game of DOTA 2 tonight.
I can’t believe it’s been 5 months since Calvin first gave me an invite. During this time, I’ve had 460 amazing hours of epic victories and crushing defeats.
The games that I loved the most were the ones that left my heart pounding: all the the momentum swings, the base races, and the everything-can-collapse-at-any-moment feels. My favorite match took place on the first of February. What began as a 5v5 very quickly devolved into a 3v3, due to rage quits. In the end, it was Silencer, Leshrac, and Wisp (me) pitted against Magnus, Windrunner, and Alchemist.
We fought tooth and nail, and eventually clawed our way to victory, with me making some ridiculous saves with Relocate.
That game conjured nostalgic memories of the times I played the original DOTA with my good friends. We would 3v1 amongst ourselves. It was always Dwarwen Sniper, Rouge Knight, and Phantom Assasin (me) versus Ursa Warrior. I miss those days.
For me, DOTA 2 wasn’t just about playing the game; it was about the people. I met some super friendly folks in-game as well as befriended a motley crew over mumble. I affectionately called them “Dan’s Internet Friends” because, well, they were Dan’s internet friends.
I’ve stuck with DOTA 2 for far longer than any other game in recent years. It has been a very good experience. However, I think I’m done, at least for now. DOTA 2 is a simple pleasure. Right now, I crave something deeper and more meaningful.
GG DOTA 2.
Perhaps I’ll return at a later time.
Base race against a team-wiping lvl 25 Drow…. stressful times…

Huskar and I got into a standoff. It was his low health/Berserker’s Blood vs. my Reaper’s Scythe.

I came home to find an amazing gift from Birgitte! I’m sooo happy at the moment!
First of all, she wrote a lovely card that said “Greetings”. It was *perfect* for me.
Her package included a packet of tea and four vials of Possets perfume:
Lovechild – Sweetbaby
Vanilla concentrated with lavender and amber
Lovechild – Meltbaby
Cherry, coconut, and rose. What a wonderful combination to which [Fabienne] added a bit of extra secret wonderfulness.
Xmas in New Orleans
A creamy thick white-flower floral that is, paradoxically enough, the essence of winter
Love on My Tongue
Fetching and unusual, a snow and strawberry blend
My favorites are Xmas in New Orleans and Love on My Tongue. Xmas in New Orleans was a light, clean rapture of flowers, blooming in the air. Sadly, it’s incredibly fleeting on me. Like the little match girl who lit the entire box of matches out of desperation, a part of me want to just douse myself with the entire vial. Love on My Tongue smelled like Strawberry Sour Punch Straws, just without the sour. It’s very reminiscent of my favorite candy. I can’t stop sniffing my wrists! It is soooo gooood.
Thank you so much!!!
In regards to the McKittrick fabric, ablipintime wrote:
OH GOSH I got your thank you email and like, giggled madly since I bought that fabric in October! Or earlier I can’t remember…
I made bowties from it and lots of people got really excited over it the two times I’ve worn them to the hotel!
Either way it rocks, though I wish I had a variant with a smaller thistle pattern and some day I hope to have a vest made of it too but yeah totally going to buy more!
My day is made.
We ended up losing due to being out pushed, but those first couple kills were great.
